We are on the journey of providing our customers full data visibility on their energy usage. As a Data Engineer you will play a key role in building up our data platform.
What does a Data Engineer at Vattenfall do?
Data Engineers are the data professionals who prepare the “big data” infrastructure to be analyzed by Data Scientists. They are software engineers who design, build, integrate data from various resources, and manage big data. Then, they write complex queries on that, make sure it is easily accessible, works smoothly, and their goal is optimizing the performance of their company’s big data ecosystem. When being a Data Engineer, your activities will include:
- Create data pipelines (e.g. using Oozie)
- Bring data science workloads to production (e.g with Python and Spark)
- Work in close relationship with data science teams
- Apply software engineering practice (e.g. continuous integration, testing)
Our ideal candidate:
You are interested and able to deal with huge data amounts and have experience in software development. You like to use your hands-on mentality to solve complex issues. The willingness and ability to learn is key. Trainings will be provided, understanding of software engineering is what we need you to bring in (e.g. Python, Java/C++).
