The inauguration of a fast charging station, located in the HafenCity area in Hamburg, took place on December 6th. The installation of the fast charging station is a part of the German project Wirtschaft Am Strom (WAS). Within the WAS project, Vattenfall R&D will focus on optimizing existing public charging infrastructure, as well as investigating and testing future charging solutions.
The fast charging station is equipped with two fast chargers, one from Mennekes and one from e8energy. The Mennekes charger has both a Schuko and a Mennekes type II outlet (bring your own cable!) and the possibility to charge with up to 32 A, 3-phase (up to 22 kW). The e8energy charger is a combined AC/DC charger. For AC it has the possibility of charging with 32 A, 3-phase and a Mennekes type II outlet (bring your own cable!). For DC it has a fixed cable with a CHAdeMO plug, and you can charge with up to 18.3 kW.
