Vattenfall owned Nuon sells three district heating projects

Nuon, subsidiary of Vattenfall, sells three district heating projects to public energy and waste company HVC. Both parties entered into an agreement today. As of now HVC will provide district heating to over four thousand residential connections in three municipalities in the Netherlands.

Besides being responsible for providing district heat, HVC also takes on full responsibility for production, distribution, combined heat and power and the connections. For the customers involved, about 4.342 residential connections, no technical changes are necessary.

The divestment of these small scale district heating projects is in line with the heat strategy of Nuon, subsidiary of Vattenfall. Under this strategy the company focuses exclusively on large scale district heating projects. An example is the current development and construction of district heating in the Almere Poort district in the city of Almere with 11.000 projected residential connections. On January 1st 2011 Nuon supplied heat to 106.650 customers. The company strives to increase its customer base for district heating to 165.000 customers on January 1st 2018.
