According to Sustainalyctis, a global provider of environmental, social and governance (ESG) research and ratings, Vattenfall is rated as an overall outperformer (July 2017). The high score is an acknowledgement of Vattenfall's generally strong policies and programmes to manage our key ESG issues. Vattenfall was rated as a leader for social and governance practice and as an outperformer for environment performance. Vattenfall was assessed against 199 other energy companies. The rating is an important one, as many investors incorporate Sustainalytics' analysis into their investment decision-making process.

EcoVadis - a gold rating
For 2017, Vattenfall received a gold rating from EcoVadis. EcoVadis operates the first online platform providing Supplier Sustainability Ratings for global supply chains that enables companies to monitor the CSR performance of their suppliers worldwide. EcoVadis analyses CSR policy, implementation and performance with respect to environmental and social aspects, in the area of ethics and supply chain responsibility. The Gold rating means that Vattenfall is in the top 3% of suppliers assessed by EcoVadis in all categories (40,000 suppliers) and top 12% of suppliers assessed by EcoVadis in the category Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning.
Vattenfall is a member of the EcoVadis platform, through which (potential) suppliers have access to the ESG profile of Vattenfall as evaluated by EcoVadis.

CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) rating
The CDP is the world's leading disclosure
system of Environmental data. It enables companies, cities and organizations to voluntarily disclose their climate related strategies, performance and risks and opportunities. The information reported to the CDP is commonly used by investors and customers as a basis for decision making. Based on companies' performance and disclosure CDP provides a score ranging from A-F based on set criteria. In 2017 Vattenfall achieved an A- (leadership level) and was rated above industry average in all rated categories. Vattenfall's high score show that we have a thorough understanding of our risks and opportunities related to climate change, strategies to mitigate or capitalize on these risks and opportunities, and that we have a transparent disclosure of emissions throughout the value chain.
